Asset Custody and Risk Management
A significant portion of the fund's assets is maintained in pooled custodial accounts at Coinbase, a publicly traded and SEC-regulated cryptocurrency exchange. With insurance, Coinbase provides account protection and pre-filled tax forms, further enhancing the fund's operational efficiency and compliance.
As part of the risk management strategy, the fund's assets are stored in Coinbase Prime’s cold wallet, a service provided exclusively to institutional clients. This approach mitigates the risk associated with keeping assets in a hot wallet and enhances asset security for our medium-term investment horizon.
Halcyon will acquire certain assets through Binance.US, a fully regulated U.S. crypto exchange, registered with FinCEN and compliant with strict federal and state licensing requirements. This platform ensures the safety and availability of customer assets by maintaining 1:1 reserves and upholds high security and privacy standards, backed by SOC 2 and ISO certifications. It also implements real-time risk management and monitoring systems for the protection of customer assets and data.
